I once made the mistake of buying a Starbucks Vanilla Bean Frappuccino for my children and have been paying for it ever since. They will bug me until I break and buy them one 🤷🏻♀️ in my defense, it usually takes several days before I break down.
If you’ve never bought one, they are a bit pricey (especially when you are buying 3 or 4 of them!) and I cringe each time the barista tells me the total.
So one day this past week, after the 4th day of insistent bugging from my 9yr old – I put my foot down and said “NO! Let’s learn how to make one at home…..and I’ll even make you whip cream too.” 🙂

We drove home from the school pick up line and whipped up a batch. Pun intended.
It’s actually very simple and only uses 5 ingredients and took like 7 minutes tops. I think I have solved one problem and created another….they are going to expect these often…I have a feeling.
To make this recipe you will need a blender (strong enough for ice) and either a stand mixer or a hand held mixer if you make the whip cream too.
Vanilla Bean Frappuccino Recipe
- 1 cup milk (best with 2% or whole)
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2-3 tsp Vanilla extract (or 1 vanilla bean if you have it)
- 2 cups ice
Blend all ingredients until smooth. Dollop with whip cream if desired.
Homemade Whip Cream Recipe
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 powder sugar
- 1/2-1 tsp vanilla (depending on how vanilla-y you like it)
Add ingredients to bowl and beat with mixer until it firms up and peaks form.
Super simple and it made them happy and saved me about $15 bucks!

We were all out of heavy cream, so I used a sweat cream coffee creamer instead! Worked great, I would just decrease the sugar content quite a bit since the creamer is heavily sweetened on its own.
THANK YOU! This is amazing! I went searching because I am having the same problem. How much does this make?
It made about 32 ounces for me! Enough for 2 good sized glasses.
Heavy cream is whipping cream or half and half?
heavy whipping cream 🙂
